The crowd at Saturday's non-league match between the Columbus Discoverers (Columbus, NE) and the host Westview (Omaha, NE), saw Columbus's softball squad achieve victory over Westview by a count of 13-1.

The Discoverers now sport a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Lincoln Southwest for a A District match on Tuesday, August 23. Columbus will face a Silver Hawks squad coming off a 8-6 league loss to Norfolk (Norfolk, NE). The Silver Hawks record now stands at 1-1.

With the loss, Westview falls to 2-1 on the campaign. The travel to Yutan-Mead (Yutan, NE) to face the Patriots in a non-league match on Monday, August 22. The Patriots enter the match with a record of 1-0. Yutan-Mead won 3-0 in their recent non-league match against Milford (Milford, NE)
