In Tuesday's non-league challenge, the host Friona Chieftans volleyball team scored a close 3-2 triumph over the Shallowater Mustangs.

The Chieftans (6-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Ropes (Ropesville, TX). The Eagles come into the non-league challenge with a 7-4 record. In their last challenge, Ropes edged Knox City (Knox City, TX), 3-1, in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Mustangs play the Fairfield Eagles (Fairfield, TX) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, August 23. Shallowater will attempt to upgrade on its 6-3 season record. The Eagles come into the challenge with a 6-2 record after their 3-1 non-league loss to Neches (Neches, TX).
