    In Thursday's non-league game, the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks (Fort Lauderdale, FL) football team edged the host Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs (Fort Lauderdale, FL), by a tally of 42-35.

    In their next game, the Mavericks battle the Community School of Naples Seahawks (Naples, FL) in a non-league game, on Friday, August 29. Archbishop McCarthy will attempt to better on its 1-0 season record. The Seahawks enter the game with a 1-0 record after their 49-0 non-league win over Oasis (Cape Coral, FL).
