Fans at Thursday's non-league battle between the Goodpasture Christian Cougars (Madison, TN) and the host Smith County Owls (Carthage, TN), saw Goodpasture Christian's soccer squad hold off Smith County by a score of 2-1.

The Cougars (1-1) will now prepare for their battle against Nashville Christian (Nashville, TN). The Eagles enter the D II-A Middle 4 battle with a 0-2 record. In their last battle, Nashville Christian was edged by Brentwood Academy (Brentwood, TN), 5-1, in a non-league battle.

Next up, the Owls confront the Cannon County Lions (Woodbury, TN) in a A District 5 battle, on Tuesday, August 27. Smith County will attempt to improve on its 1-2 season record. The Lions enter the battle with a 3-0 record after their 5-1 league win over York Institute (Jamestown, TN).
