La Costa Canyon Mavericks (Carlsbad, CA) fans went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team achieve victory over the visiting St. Augustine Saints (San Diego, CA), 43-14 in a non-league battle.

With the win, La Costa Canyon improves its record to 1-0 on the season. The Mavericks travel to Mount Miguel (Spring Valley, CA) to meet the Matadors in a non-league test on Friday, August 29. The Matadors come into the test with a record of 1-0. Mount Miguel won 28-27 in their recent non-league test against San Marcos (San Marcos, CA)

With the defeat, St. Augustine drops to 0-1 on the campaign. The Saints host Del Norte (San Diego, CA) to meet the Nighthawks in a non-league test on Friday, August 29. The Nighthawks come into the test with a record of 0-1. Del Norte lost 42-24 in their recent non-league test against Point Loma (San Diego, CA)
