The Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans (Mt. Vernon, SD) football were winner over the visiting McCook Central/Montrose Fighting Cougars (Salem, SD), 38-16 in Friday's non-league outing.
The Titans now sport a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to St. Thomas More for a non-league game on Friday, August 29. Mt. Vernon/Plankinton will face a Cavaliers team coming off a 28-14 non-league win over Sioux Valley (Volga, SD). The Cavaliers record now stands at 1-0.
The Fighting Cougars (0-1) will now prepare for their game against Webster (Webster, SD). The Bearcats enter the non-league game with a 0-1 record. In their last game, Webster fell by Groton (Groton, SD), 54-0, in a league outing.
