The DeSoto Thunderbirds football squad scored 56 points and limited the host Calhoun Academy Cougars to 14 in the Thunderbirds non-league triumph on Friday.

The Thunderbirds now hold a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Lee Academy for a MAIS 8-Man 1A District 1 (8 Man) test on Friday, September 6. DeSoto will meet a Cougars squad coming off a 50-12 non-league loss to Corning (Corning, AR). The Cougars record now stands at 0-1.

With the defeat, Calhoun Academy drops to 0-1 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Columbus Christian Academy (Steens, MS) to meet the rams in a non-league test on Friday, August 30. The rams come into the test with a record of 1-0. Columbus Christian Academy won 42-0 in their recent non-league test against Hebron Christian (Pheba, MS)
