North Carolina High School Football - Smoky Mountain defeats Cherokee

August 23, 2024: Sylva, NC 28779

The crowd at Friday's non-league contest between the Smoky Mountain Mustangs (Sylva, NC) and the visiting Cherokee Braves (Cherokee, NC), witnessed Smoky Mountain's football squad topple Cherokee by a count of 34-21.

The Mustangs (1-0) will now prepare for their contest against Swain County (Bryson City, NC). The Maroon Devils enter the non-league contest with a 0-1 record. In their last contest, Swain County was outscored by Charlotte Country Day School (Charlotte, NC), 21-11, in a non-league contest.

Coming up next, the Braves confront the Cosby Eagles (Cosby, TN) in a non-league contest, on Friday, August 30. Cherokee will attempt to upgrade on its 0-1 season record. The Eagles enter the contest with a 1-0 record after their 37-7 non-league win over Cumberland Gap (Cumberland Gap, TN).
