North Carolina High School Football - West Wilkes thwarted by East Wilkes

East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC) fans went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team achieve victory over the host West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC), 34-6 in a non-league battle.

With the win, East Wilkes improves its record to 1-0 on the season. The Cardinals host Surry Central (Dobson, NC) to play the Golden Eagles in a non-league battle on Friday, August 30. The Golden Eagles go into the battle with a record of 1-0. Surry Central won 45-7 in their recent non-league battle against Alleghany (Sparta, NC)

The Blackhawks now have a 0-1 record. They play next when they travel to Elkin for a non-league contest on Friday, August 30. West Wilkes will confront a Buckin' Elks squad coming off a 27-21 non-league loss to North Wilkes (Hays, NC). The Buckin' Elks record now stands at 0-1.
