In Friday's non-league match, the host Hermleigh Cardinals football squad scored a good 52-30 victory over the Sands Mustangs.

In their next game, the Cardinals clash with the Abilene Christian Panthers (Abilene, TX) in a non-league match, on Friday, September 1. Hermleigh will attempt to move on its 1-0 season record. The Panthers enter the match with a 1-0 record after their 62-26 non-league win over Lubbock Titans (Lubbock, TX).
