In Friday's league match, the host Avon Pirates football squad scored a big 52-6 victory over the Burke Cougars.

In their next game, the Pirates clash with the Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy (Freeman, SD) in a non-league match, on Friday, September 2. Avon will attempt to move on its 2-0 season record. The enter the match with a 2-0 record after their 44-8 non-league win over Iroquois/Lake Preston (Iroquois, SD).
