In Friday's non-league game, the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes (Monroe, GA) football team smashed the host Cedar Shoals Jaguars (Athens, GA), by a score of 56-13.

The Purple Hurricanes (1-1) will now prepare for their game against Gainesville (Gainesville, GA). The Red Elephants come into the non-league game with a 2-0 record. In their last game, Gainesville overwhelmed Mountain View (Lawrenceville, GA), 30-7, in a non-league game.

The Jaguars now sport a 0-2 record. They take the field next when they host East Forsyth for a AAAA Region 8A game on Friday, September 2. Cedar Shoals will battle a Broncos team coming off a 48-0 non-league win over Seckinger (Buford, GA). The Broncos record now stands at 1-0.
