In Friday's non-league game, the Simpson Academy Cougars (Mendenhall, MS) football team smashed the visiting Wayne Academy Jaguars (Waynesboro, MS), by a final score of 50-7.

The Cougars (2-0) will now prepare for their game against Lamar (Meridian, MS). The Raiders come into the MAIS 5A District 2 game with a 0-3 record. In their last game, Lamar was trounced by John Milledge Academy (Milledgeville, GA), 48-7, in a non-league game.

The Jaguars now hold a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Bowling Green for a MAIS 4A District 4 game on Friday, September 9.
