The Santa Maria Cougars volleyball team (Santa Maria, TX), went down 2-0 in Friday's non-league challenge with the host Valley View Tigers (Pharr, TX)

The Tigers (4-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial (Alamo, TX). The Wolverines enter the 5A Region IV District 31 challenge with a 2-9 record. In their last challenge, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial went down by Sharyland (Mission, TX), 3-0, in a league challenge.

Next, the Cougars encounter the Raymondville Bearkats (Raymondville, TX) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, August 26. Santa Maria will attempt to move on its 7-11 season record. The Bearkats enter the challenge with a 0-4 record after their 3-1 non-league loss to Lyford (Lyford, TX).
