The Russell County Lakers were victorious over the host Wayne County Cardinals football team by a score of 23-12 in Monday's non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Lakers face the Pulaski County Maroons (Somerset, KY) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, September 23. Russell County will attempt to improve on its 1-0 season record.

The Cardinals (0-1) will now prepare for their challenge against McCreary Central (Stearns, KY). The Raiders enter the non-league challenge with a 0-0 record.
