In Saturday's non-league battle, the visiting Merrillville Pirates soccer squad scored a close 6-1 win over the Kankakee Valley Kougars.
The Pirates (1-2) will now prepare for their battle against La Porte (La Porte, IN). The Slicers go into the Duneland battle with a 1-4 record.
The Kougars (0-5) will now prepare for their battle against Portage (Portage, IN). The Indians go into the non-league battle with a 3-2 record. In their last battle, Portage nipped Griffith (Griffith, IN), 8-0, in a non-league battle.
