Bellevue West Thunderbirds (Bellevue, NE) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Ashland-Greenwood Bluejays (Ashland, NE), 8-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Thunderbirds now own a 5-2 record. They take the field next when they host Omaha Westside for a A District challenge on Tuesday, August 30. Bellevue West will face a Warriors squad coming off a 6-2 non-league loss to Blair (Blair, NE). The Warriors record now stands at 6-4.

With the loss, Ashland-Greenwood falls to 4-3 on the campaign. The Bluejays travel to Blair (Blair, NE) to face the Bears in a non-league challenge on Saturday, August 27. The Bears enter the challenge with a record of 6-2. Blair won 8-0 in their recent non-league challenge against NEN (Wisner, NE)
