    In Thursday's non-league game, the Cumberland Dukes (Cumberland, VA) football team triumphed over the host Mathews Blue Devils (Mathews, VA), by a tally of 46-0.

    In their next game, the Dukes face the William Campbell Generals (Naruna, VA) in a non-league game, on Friday, September 5. Cumberland will attempt to better on its 1-0 season record. The Generals come into the outing with a 0-1 record after their 50-16 non-league loss to Liberty (Bedford, VA).

    With the defeat, Mathews drops to 0-1 on the campaign. The Blue devils travel to Colonial Beach (Colonial Beach, VA) to clash with the Drifters in a non-league outing on Friday, September 5. The Drifters come into the outing with a record of 0-1. Colonial Beach lost 46-6 in their recent non-league game against West Point (West Point, VA)
