The Topsail Pirates (Hampstead, NC) football were winner over the visiting Croatan Cougars (Newport, NC), 26-8 in Thursday's non-league outing.
The Pirates now possess a 2-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Northside - Jacksonville for a non-league game on Thursday, September 4. Topsail will face a Monarchs team coming off a 31-28 non-league loss to Jacksonville (Jacksonville, NC). The Monarchs record now stands at 1-1.
The Cougars (0-2) will now prepare for their game against Southwest Onslow (Jacksonville, NC). The Stallions enter the non-league game with a 1-1 record. In their last game, Southwest Onslow fell by Swansboro (Swansboro, NC), 28-26, in a non-league game.
