Fans at Thursday's non-league battle between the Alexander Spartans (Albany, OH) and the host Point Pleasant Big Blacks (Point Pleasant, WV), saw Alexander's soccer squad hold off Point Pleasant by a count of 5-4.

The Spartans (5-1) will now prepare for their battle against Marietta (Marietta, OH). The Tigers enter the Ohio Valley (OVAC) battle with a 1-2 record. In their last match, Marietta nipped Belpre (Belpre, OH), 8-1, in a league match.

The Big Blacks now sport a 0-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to South Charleston for a non-league match on Saturday, August 30. Point Pleasant will meet a Black Eagles team coming off a 3-0 league loss to Spring Valley (Huntington, WV). The Black Eagles record now stands at 1-3.
