Wauwatosa East Red Raiders (Wauwatosa, WI) backers exited the stadium pleased Thursday as they witnessed their soccer team get by the visiting Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes (Whitefish Bay, WI), 1-0 in a non-league test.
With the triumph, Wauwatosa East advances its record to 1-0 on the campaign. The Red Raiders host Kettle Moraine (Wales, WI) to clash with the Lasers in a non-league test on Saturday, August 30. The Lasers come into the test with a record of 1-1. Kettle Moraine lost 3-0 in their recent non-league test against Elkhorn (Elkhorn, WI)
The Blue Dukes now have a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Nicolet for a North Shore test on Thursday, September 4.
Match Summary
The Raiders and Blue Dukes clashed in an epic back and forth battle at Whitman Field on Thursday night, with Tosa East prevailing 1 - 0 in a game that featured several chances at goal for both teams.
Tosa East broke through in the 45th minute of the match when captain Leo Foti was able to slam home a shot on the far post after junior Finn Hawkins headed down a ball to him after a corner kick serve from captain Luke Gendrich.
East goalkeeper Andrew Metzger and his back line was able to secure a clean sheet in the Raiders' first match of the season. Next up for the Raiders will be the Kettle Moraine Lasers on Saturday, August 30th at Whitman Field. Game time for the JV is 9 AM with the Varsity match to follow at 11 AM.
