Glascock County Panthers (Gibson, GA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Edmund Burke Academy Spartans (Waynesboro, GA), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Panthers now own a 5-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Academy for Classical Education for a non-league challenge on Wednesday, August 31. Glascock County will battle a Gryphons squad coming off a 15-0 league win over Kendrick (Columbus, GA). The Gryphons record now stands at 9-2.

With the loss, Edmund Burke Academy falls to 4-4 on the campaign. The Spartans host Brentwood (Sandersville, GA) to battle the War Eagles in a GIAA 2AA challenge on Thursday, September 1. The War Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 7-2. Brentwood won 6-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Thomas Jefferson Academy (Louisville, GA)
