In Friday's non-league game, the Carson Cougars (China Grove, NC) football team edged the host Mount Pleasant Tigers (Mt. Pleasant, NC), by a tally of 35-32.

Next, the Cougars clash with the Pine Lake Prep Pride (Mooresville, NC) in a non-league outing, on Friday, September 5. Carson will attempt to move on its 1-1 season record. The Pride come into the outing with a 0-2 record after their 19-13 non-league loss to East Rowan (Salisbury, NC).

With the defeat, Mount Pleasant drops to 1-1 on the year. The Tigers travel to Central Cabarrus (Concord, NC) to battle the Vikings in a non-league game on Friday, September 5. The Vikings enter the game with a record of 1-1. Central Cabarrus lost 27-21 in their recent non-league game against Northwest Cabarrus (Concord, NC)
