The Cumberland Pirates felled the host Villa Grove Blue Devils football team by a score of 21-0 in Friday's league challenge.

In their next game, the Pirates face the Argenta-Oreana Bombers (Argenta, IL) in a Lincoln Prairie test, on Friday, September 5. Cumberland will attempt to move on its 1-0 season record. The Bombers come into the test with a 0-1 record after their 14-12 league loss to Nokomis (Nokomis, IL).

With the defeat, Villa Grove drops to 0-1 on the campaign. The Blue devils travel to Arcola (Arcola, IL) to meet the Purple Riders in a Lincoln Prairie test on Friday, September 5. The Purple Riders come into the challenge with a record of 0-1. Arcola lost 61-6 in their recent league challenge against Sullivan (Sullivan, IL)
