Fans at Friday's non-league contest between the Superior Spartans (Superior, WI) and the visiting Athens Bluejays (Athens, WI), observed Superior's volleyball team hold off Athens by a count of 2-1.

The Spartans (1-4) will now prepare for their battle against Rice Lake (Rice Lake, WI). The Warriors go into the non-league battle with a 0-0 record.

The Bluejays now own a 1-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Cadott for a non-league battle on Friday, August 29. Athens will encounter a Hornets squad coming off a 2-0 non-league win over Neillsville (Neillsville, WI). The Hornets record now stands at 2-0.
