The Union County Panthers football team (Blairsville, GA), was tipped 28-22 in Saturday's non-league bout with the host Fannin County Rebels (Blue Ridge, GA)

With the win, Fannin County advances its record to 1-2 on the season. The Rebels host Coosa (Rome, GA) to encounter the Eagles in a A D1 Region 7 bout on Friday, September 12. The Eagles enter the contest with a record of 1-1.

Coming up next, the Panthers battle the Murray County Indians (Chatsworth, GA) in a AA Region 7 contest, on Friday, September 5. Union County will attempt to better on its 0-2 season record. The Indians enter the contest with a 2-1 record after their 20-14 non-league win over Southeast Whitfield County (Dalton, GA).
