The Nimitz Cougars edged the host Morton Ranch Mavericks football team by a score of 29-27 in Saturday's non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Cougars face the Cypress Ridge Rams (Houston, TX) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, September 5. Nimitz will attempt to improve on its 1-0 season record. The Rams enter the challenge with a 0-1 record after their 23-13 non-league loss to MacArthur (Houston, TX).

The Mavericks (0-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Magnolia West (Magnolia, TX). The Mustangs enter the non-league challenge with a 1-0 record. In their last challenge, Magnolia West held off Bryan (Bryan, TX), 20-13, in a non-league challenge.
