Pope Greyhounds (Marietta, GA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Sequoyah Chiefs (Canton, GA), 6-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Greyhounds now own a 11-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Sprayberry for a 6A Region 7 challenge on Thursday, September 1. Pope will battle a Yellow Jackets squad coming off a 11-3 non-league loss to North Forsyth (Cumming, GA). The Yellow Jackets record now stands at 7-7.

With the loss, Sequoyah falls to 8-3 on the campaign. The Chiefs host Etowah (Woodstock, GA) to battle the Eagles in a 6A Region 6 challenge on Thursday, September 1. The Eagles enter the challenge with a record of 1-5. Etowah lost 7-3 in their recent league challenge against Woodstock (Woodstock, GA)
