The crowd at Thursday's non-league contest between the Powhatan Indians (Powhatan, VA) and the host Mechanicsville Mustangs (Mechanicsville, VA), observed Powhatan's football squad defeat Mechanicsville by a count of 43-23.

The Indians now own a 1-0 record. They play next when they travel to Manchester for a Dominion contest on Friday, September 8. Powhatan will encounter a Lancers squad coming off a 41-35 non-league loss to Highland Springs (Highland Springs, VA). The Lancers record now stands at 0-1.
