In Thursday's non-league game, the West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC) football team knocked off the host Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC), by a score of 30-8.
The Blackhawks (2-1) will now prepare for their game against Central Davidson (Lexington, NC). The Spartans come into the non-league game with a 1-2 record. In their last game, Central Davidson was dropped by West Davidson (Lexington, NC), 27-6, in a non-league game.
The Huskies now sport a 1-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Mount Airy for a non-league game on Thursday, September 8. Ashe County will battle a Granite Bears team coming off a 54-8 non-league win over Surry Central (Dobson, NC). The Granite Bears record now stands at 3-0.
