In Friday's non-league contest, the Kickapoo Chiefs (Springfield, MO) volleyball squad edged the visiting Helias Crusaders (Jefferson City, MO), by a margin of 2-1.
With the loss, Helias drops to 3-2 on the campaign. The Crusaders travel to Lebanon (Lebanon, MO) to battle the Yellowjackets in a non-league contest on Wednesday, September 6. The Yellowjackets come into the contest with a record of 0-0.
Match Summary
The Helias Freshmen team had just come off a tough 3 Set match loss to Nixa earlier in day, when they would have to play another very strong VB school in the Kickapoo Lady Chiefs. Set 1 Helias never really got started getting behind 15-8. The Lady Sader's would fight back to make it 13-18 but would end up falling 18-25 to Kickapoo. Helias scored 7 points off serve with 1 Ace, while getting Aced 5 times & made 4 attack errors. In the 2nd Set Helias would come back strong with a
6-2 lead, Kickapoo would go up 8-6 then Helias tied it 8-8. Helias shot out to a 17-12 lead, then 21-14 before taking the set win 25-16. Helias had 16 pts. off Serve & 2 Aces while getting Aced 3 times with 3 Attack errors. In the 3rd Set as in the 1st Set Helias was in hole early 9-2 before making a run to 9-12 before Kickapoo shut the door for a 15-9 Match win. Helias scored only 5 pts. off serve, 0 Aces, got Aced 4 times with 4 attack errors. The night ended with another tough loss to a Quality VB team.
