Fans at Tuesday's league battle between the Hughesville Spartans (Hughesville, PA) and the host Southern Columbia Area Tigers (Catawissa, PA), saw Hughesville's soccer squad hold off Southern Columbia Area by a count of 3-2.

The Spartans (2-3) will now prepare for their battle against Shamokin Area (Coal Township, PA). The Indians enter the Heartland II battle with a 2-3 record. In their last battle, Shamokin Area was edged by Bloomsburg (Bloomsburg, PA), 2-1, in a league battle.

Next up, the Tigers battle the Montoursville Warriors (Montoursville, PA) in a PIAA District IV-AA battle, on Thursday, September 12. Southern Columbia Area will attempt to upgrade on its 2-2 season record. The Warriors enter the battle with a 5-0 record after their 8-0 league win over Mifflinburg (Mifflinburg, PA).
