In Monday's non-league match, the visiting South Laurel Cardinals football squad scored a close 20-16 victory over the Rockcastle County Rockets.

In their next game, the Cardinals clash with the Clay County Tigers (Manchester, KY) in a non-league match, on Monday, September 18. South Laurel will attempt to move on its 1-0 season record.
