In Thursday's non-league challenge, the host Mason City Mohawks volleyball team scored a close 2-1 win over the Charles City Comets.

With the win, Mason City advances its record to 2-5 on the season. The Mohawks host Ames (Ames, IA) to face the Little Cyclones in a Iowa Alliance - North test on Tuesday, September 16. The Little Cyclones go into the test with a record of 7-4.

The Comets now sport a 1-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host Ankeny Christian Academy for a non-league test on Saturday, September 13. Charles City will face a squad coming off a 3-0 non-league win over Mormon Trail (Garden Grove, IA). The record now stands at 5-6.
