The DSST: Byers Falcons smashed the visiting STEM School Highlands Ranch Spartans soccer squad by a margin of 10-1 in Monday's league match.
The Falcons now sport a 3-1 record. They play next when they travel to William Smith for a 3A/2A Confluence game on Wednesday, September 14. DSST: Byers will clash with a Eagles squad coming off a 10-0 non-league loss to Aurora West College Prep Academy (Aurora, CO). The Eagles record now stands at 0-1.
The Spartans (0-1) will now prepare for their game against DSST: College View (Denver, CO). The Wolves go into the 3A/2A Confluence game with a 3-1 record. In their last game, DSST: College View notched a victory over Lotus School For Excellence (Aurora, CO), 4-1, in a league game.
Game Summary
The STEM Boys Soccer(0-1) team had its first match of the season on Monday, falling 10-1 to DSST: Byers(3-1). Byers utilized their height advantage with a well executed set piece game, scoring most of their points on corner kicks and throw ins. The STEM boys played hard in their first game and generated several scoring opportunities, only to just miss finishing with a goal. Players of mention: Senior Center Back Aiden Rowlett was consistently a strong defensive force in the middle, turning back numerous attacks. Sophomore Goal Keeper Andrew Munro registered double digit saves and recorded an assist when his punt cleared the Byers defense and met fast charging Senior Striker Kellan Shiffer, whose excellent finish found the back of the net. As the game progressed, the midfielders and forwards also found increasing success and confidence passing through the Byers defense and creating several scoring opportunities. The team looks much improved over last season.
