In Thursday's league match, the host Bluefield Beavers football squad scored a close 42-40 triumph over the Greenbrier East Spartans.
The Beavers (1-2) will now prepare for their match against Woodrow Wilson (Beckley, WV). The Flying Eagles come into the non-league match with a 2-1 record. In their last match, Woodrow Wilson was nudged by Parkersburg South (Parkersburg, WV), 35-19, in a non-league match.
Coming up next, the Spartans confront the Alleghany Cougars (Covington, VA) in a non-league match, on Friday, September 20. Greenbrier East will attempt to upgrade on its 1-2 season record. The Cougars come into the match with a 3-0 record after their 63-14 non-league win over Rockbridge County (Lexington, VA).
