Fans at Thursday's non-league battle between the Surry Central Golden Eagles (Dobson, NC) and the host Starmount Rams (Boonville, NC), saw Surry Central's soccer squad hold off Starmount by a count of 1-0.

The Golden Eagles (3-3) will now prepare for their battle against Wilkes Central (Wilkesboro, NC). The Eagles enter the Foothills 2A battle with a 1-3 record. In their last battle, Wilkes Central tipped North Surry (Mount Airy, NC), 5-0, in a league battle.

Next up, the Rams battle the North Stokes Vikings (Danbury, NC) in a Northwest 1A battle, on Monday, September 16. Starmount will attempt to upgrade on its 5-2 season record. The Vikings enter the battle with a 0-5 record after their 9-0 league loss to Elkin (Elkin, NC).
