Virginia High School Football - Gate City defeats Abingdon

September 12, 2025: Gate City, VA 24251

Gate City Blue Devils (Gate City, VA) followers went home pleased Friday as they saw their football team gain a win over the visiting Abingdon Falcons (Abingdon, VA), 28-17 in a league battle.

With the win, Gate City advances its record to 2-1 on the season. The Blue Devils host Marion (Marion, VA) to encounter the Scarlet Hurricanes in a non-league battle on Friday, September 19. The Scarlet Hurricanes go into the battle with a record of 0-4. Marion lost 53-22 in their recent league battle against Lebanon (Lebanon, VA)

The Falcons now own a 2-1 record. They play next when they travel to Richlands for a non-league battle on Friday, September 19. Abingdon will confront a Blue Tornado squad coming off a 42-14 non-league win over Lee (Jonesville, VA). The Blue Tornado record now stands at 1-2.
