The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Peabody Golden Tide (Trenton, TN) and the host Jackson Central Merry Cougars (Jackson, TN), witnessed Peabody's football squad knock off Jackson Central Merry by a tally of 45-21.
The Golden Tide (4-0) will now prepare for their contest against Douglass (Memphis, TN). The Red Devils go into the non-league bout with a 0-4 record. In their last bout, Douglass dropped by Raleigh-Egypt (Memphis, TN), 34-0, in a league bout.
The Cougars now own a 1-3 record. They play next when they travel to Huntingdon for a 2A Region 7 bout on Friday, September 19. Jackson Central Merry will encounter a Mustangs team coming off a 49-6 league win over Halls (Halls, TN). The Mustangs record now stands at 3-1.
