The McDonald County Mustangs walloped the visiting Mt. Vernon Mountaineers football team by a score of 48-7 in Friday's league challenge.

Next, the Mustangs meet the Nevada Tigers (Nevada, MO) in a Big 8 test, on Friday, September 19. McDonald County will attempt to upgrade on its 3-0 season record. The Tigers come into the test with a 2-1 record after their 54-33 league loss to Seneca (Seneca, MO).

With the defeat, Mt. Vernon drops to 0-3 on the campaign. The Mountaineers host East Newton (Granby, MO) to face the Patriots in a Big 8 challenge on Friday, September 19. The Patriots go into the challenge with a record of 0-3. East Newton lost 24-14 in their recent league test against Cassville (Cassville, MO)
