The East Rutherford Cavaliers soccer squad scored 5 points and held the visiting Shelby Golden Lions to 0 in the Cavaliers non-league victory on Friday.

The Cavaliers now hold a 5-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host West Caldwell for a Western Piedmont 3A/4A game on Monday, September 15. East Rutherford will face a Warriors team coming off a 5-1 league win over Chase (Forest City, NC). The Warriors record now stands at 3-3.

The Golden Lions (4-6) will now prepare for their game against Bessemer City (Bessemer City, NC). The Yellow Jackets enter the Southern Piedmont 2A/3A/4A game with a 5-5 record. In their last challenge, Bessemer City was overwhelmed by Burns (Lawndale, NC), 2-0, in a league challenge.
