Fans at Saturday's non-league battle between the St. Mark's Lions (Southborough, MA) and the host Cushing Academy Penguins (Ashburnham, MA), saw St. Mark's's soccer squad hold off Cushing Academy by a count of 2-1.

The Lions (1-0) will now prepare for their battle against Pomfret School (Pomfret, CT). The Griffins enter the non-league battle with a 0-2 record. In their last battle, Pomfret School was edged by Middlesex (Concord, MA), 7-2, in a non-league battle.

Next up, the Penguins battle the Lawrence Academy Spartans (Groton, MA) in a non-league battle, on Monday, September 15. Cushing Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record. The Spartans enter the battle with a 2-0 record after their 3-0 non-league win over Proctor Academy (Andover, NH).
