George C. Marshall Statesmen (Falls Church, VA) boosters left the game thrilled Saturday as they witnessed their volleyball team tip the host Perquimans Pirates (Hertford, NC), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Statesmen (5-9) will now prepare for their challenge against Washington-Liberty (Arlington, VA). The Generals come into the Liberty challenge with a 1-6 record. In their last challenge, Washington-Liberty was nudged by McLean (McLean, VA), 3-2, in a league challenge.

Next, the Pirates meet the Camden County Bruins (Camden, NC) in a Albermarle (AAC) 2A challenge, on Tuesday, September 16. Perquimans will attempt to upgrade on its 11-2 season record. The Bruins come into the challenge with a 13-2 record after their 2-1 non-league win over Hickory (Chesapeake, VA).
