Texas High School Football - Brazos sneaks past Nixon-Smiley

September 15, 2023: Nixon, TX 78140

The Brazos Cougars football squad scored 26 points and restricted the host Nixon-Smiley Mustangs to 20 in the Cougars non-league victory on Friday.

The Cougars now possess a 4-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Van Vleck for a 3A-2 Region IV District 14 battle on Friday, September 22. Brazos will face a Leopards squad coming off a 35-14 non-league loss to St. John XXIII (Katy, TX). The Leopards record now stands at 0-4.

Coming up next, the Mustangs face the Comfort Bobcats/Deer (Comfort, TX) in a 3A-2 Region IV District 15 battle, on Friday, September 22. Nixon-Smiley will attempt to advance on its 0-4 season record. The Bobcats/Deer enter the battle with a 1-3 record after their 55-15 non-league win over Brackett (Brackettville, TX).
