    The Sperry Pirates football squad scored 23 points and limited the visiting Vinita Hornets to 14 in the Pirates non-league win on Friday.

    The Pirates now possess a 3-0 record. They play next when they host Kansas for a 2A District 7 battle on Friday, September 22. Sperry will play a Comets squad coming off a 48-0 non-league win over Fairland (Fairland, OK). The Comets record now stands at 3-0.

    Coming up next, the Hornets play the Pawhuska Huskies (Pawhuska, OK) in a 2A District 8 battle, on Friday, September 22. Vinita will attempt to advance on its 1-2 season record. The Huskies go into the battle with a 2-2 record after their 38-22 non-league loss to Woodland (Fairfax, OK).
