In their next game, the Bears play the Los Banos Tigers (Los Banos, CA) in a challenge, on Thursday, September 18. Merced will attempt to improve on its 10-0 season record. The Tigers go into the challenge with a 1-2 record after their 19-0 non-league loss to Orestimba (Newman, CA).

With the defeat, Orestimba drops to 2-2 on the campaign. The Warriors host Hilmar (Hilmar, CA) to meet the Yellowjackets in a non-league test on Wednesday, September 17. The Yellowjackets come into the test with a record of 4-1. Hilmar won 31-0 in their recent non-league test against Mariposa County (Mariposa, CA)
