In Friday's non-league game, the Benton Bobcats (Van Horne, IA) football team smashed the visiting South Tama County Trojans (Tama, IA), by a score of 48-0.
The Bobcats (3-1) will now prepare for their game against Mt. Vernon (Mt. Vernon, IA). The Mustangs come into the 3A District 4 game with a 4-1 record. In their last game, Mt. Vernon overwhelmed Center Point-Urbana (Center Point, IA), 42-6, in a non-league game.
The Trojans now sport a 1-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Independence for a 3A District 3 game on Friday, September 23. South Tama County will meet a Mustangs team coming off a 14-7 non-league win over Vinton-Shellsburg (Vinton, IA). The Mustangs record now stands at 4-0.
