The Lafayette Commodores football team (Oxford, MS), was beaten 43-19 in Friday's non-league challenge with the host Oxford Chargers (Oxford, MS)

The Chargers (2-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Murrah (Jackson, MS). The Mustangs come into the 6A Region 2 challenge with a 0-4 record. In their last challenge, Murrah was beaten by Port Gibson (Port Gibson, MS), 20-12, in a non-league challenge.

The Commodores now sport a 1-3 record. They take the field next when they host West Point for a 5A Region 1 challenge on Friday, September 23. Lafayette will meet a Green Wave team coming off a 34-16 non-league win over Noxubee County (Macon, MS). The Green Wave record now stands at 1-2.
