The crowd at Friday's non-league contest between the South Pike Eagles (Magnolia, MS) and the host Long Beach Bearcats (Long Beach, MS), observed South Pike's football squad edge Long Beach by a count of 40-35.

The Eagles now own a 1-3 record. They play next when they travel to Stone for a non-league contest on Friday, September 23. South Pike will encounter a Tomcats squad coming off a 56-6 non-league win over Forrest County Agricultural (Brooklyn, MS). The Tomcats record now stands at 1-2.

Coming up next, the Bearcats encounter the Vancleave Bulldogs (Vancleave, MS) in a 5A Region 4 contest, on Friday, September 23. Long Beach will attempt to upgrade on its 0-4 season record. The Bulldogs go into the contest with a 3-0 record after their 35-26 non-league win over Moss Point (Moss Point, MS).
