Franklin County Lions (Carnesville, GA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Thomson Bulldogs (Thomson, GA), 3-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Lions now own a 15-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Monroe Area for a 3A Region 8 challenge on Tuesday, September 19. Franklin County will face a Purple Hurricanes squad coming off a 5-4 league win over Oconee County (Watkinsville, GA). The Purple Hurricanes record now stands at 5-12.

With the loss, Thomson falls to 9-6 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Washington County (Sandersville, GA) to face the Golden Hawks in a 2A Region 4 challenge on Tuesday, September 19. The Golden Hawks enter the challenge with a record of 14-2. Washington County won 16-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Dublin (Dublin, GA)
